• The Great Controversy
  • This book is of high priority because it contains light and warnings to help people prepare to stand in the last day. It guards them against widespread deceptions.
• Patriarchs and Prophets
  • This book explains the origin of sin and conflict, reveals God's plan of redemption, and demonstrates the importance of obedience to God's perfect law. Stories teach practical character-building lessons that will help individuals and families to live faithfully in preparation for entering heavenly Canaan.
• The Desire of Ages
  • This is one book that should be “in every home.” It presents Jesus as the One Who can satisfy the deepest longings of the human heart, One Who loves and cares deeply for each person, and One Who desires to heal us from sin and to be with us eternally.
• Thoughts on Daniel and the Revelation
  • A book written by Uriah Smith and endorsed by Ellen White.
• Christ's Object Lessons
  • This book links Scripture with the book of nature, teaching important lessons that help us develop a Christ-like character here and prepare us for life in heaven. Ellen White donated the manuscript and royalties of this book to help pay church school debts.
• Ministry of Healing
  • This book connects spiritual laws with physical laws and shows that true healing involves restoration of both soul and body. It demonstrates Jesus as the master physician and example for us to follow. It presents medical missionary work as a simple yet effective method of evangelism.

The Great Controversy should be very widely circulated. It contains the story of the past, the present, and the future. In its outline of the closing scenes of this earth’s history, it bears a powerful testimony in behalf of the truth. I am more anxious to see a wide circulation for this book than for any others I have written; for in The Great Controversy, the last message of warning to the world is given more distinctly than in any of my other books PM 358.1

Matters of deep importance were opened to John, which were to be given to the world to be read, understood, and appreciated. The books Daniel and Revelation and The Great Controversy are the books which above all others should be in circulation now. Give them to the people. Light and truth they must have. I entreat of the people whom I address to get the very books before the people that the Lord has signified they should have, and may the Lord arouse men bearing responsibilities to clear the King’s highway in the place of blocking the road. 6LtMs, Ms 29a, 1890, par. 30

Many will depart from the faith and give heed to seducing spirits. Patriarchs and Prophets and Great Controversy are books that are especially adapted to those who have newly come to the faith, that they may be established in the truth. The dangers are pointed out that should be avoided by the churches. Those who become thoroughly acquainted with the lessons in these books will see the dangers before them, and will be able to discern the plain, straight path marked out for them. They will be kept from strange paths. They will make straight paths for their feet, lest the lame be turned out of the way. Ev 366.2

In Desire of Ages, Patriarchs and Prophets, Great Controversy, and Daniel and the Revelation, there is precious instruction. These books must be regarded as of special importance, and every effort should be made to get them before the people. Ev 366.3

Instruction has been given me that the important books containing the light that God has given regarding Satan’s apostasy in heaven should be given a wide circulation just now; for through them the truth will reach many minds. Patriarchs and Prophets, Daniel and the Revelation, and The Great Controversy are needed now as never before. They should be widely circulated because the truths they emphasize will open many blind eyes…. Many of our people have been blind to the importance of the very books that were most needed. Had tact and skill then been shown in the sale of these books, the Sunday-law movement would not be where it is today. PM 356.3

The results of the circulation of this book [The Great Controversy] are not to be judged by what now appears. By reading it, some souls will be aroused, and will have courage to unite themselves at once with those who keep the commandments of God. But a much larger number who read it will not take their position until they see the very events taking place that are foretold in it. The fulfillment of some of the predictions will inspire faith that others also will come to pass, and when the earth is lightened with the glory of the Lord, in the closing work, many souls will take their position on the commandments of God as the result of this agency….
God gave me the light contained in The Great Controversy and Patriarchs and Prophets and this light was needed to arouse the people to prepare for the great day of God, which is just before us. These books contain God’s direct appeal to the people. Thus He is speaking to the people in stirring words, urging them to make ready for His coming. The light God has given in these books should not be concealed. PM 356-357

God would be pleased to see The Desire of Ages in every home. In this book is contained the light He has given upon His Word. PM 357.3

Church members in many places have daily met with strangers—tourists, men and women of means and influence—and yet such opportunities as these for circulating Christ’s Object Lessons and Ministry of Healing have been allowed to pass by unimproved. Many honest-hearted persons who could have been reached by diligent, wholehearted effort have not been given the light of the third angel’s message. PM 363.1

God desired that the sale of Christ’s Object Lessons shall be recognized by all our people as His method of relieving our schools from debt. PM 363.2

By the sale of this book many sermons have been preached. Those in the highways as well as those in the hedges have been reached. As men and women of every age have gone forth to sell Object Lessons, and in simple words have told what they were trying to do, a deep impression has been left on minds. PM 366.4

The students who take up the work of selling Christ’s Object Lessons and Ministry of Healing will need to study the book they expect to sell. As they familiarize their minds with the subject matter of the book in hand and endeavor to practice its teachings they will develop in knowledge and spiritual power. The messages in these books contain the light that God has revealed to me to give to the world. The teachers in our schools should encourage the students to make a careful study of every chapter. They should teach these truths to their students and seek to inspire the youth with a love for the precious thoughts the Lord has entrusted to us to communicate to the world. 9T 77.1

The handling of the books Christ’s Object Lessons and Ministry of Healing is a source of great encouragement both to those who sell them and to those who purchase. Especially are the sick helped by reading Ministry of Healing. 25LtMs, Lt 24, 1910, par. 14

But it was God’s purpose that by the sale of Ministry of Healing and Christ’s Object Lessons much means should be raised for the work of our sanitariums and schools, and that our people might thereby be left more free to donate of their means for the opening of the work in new missionary fields.
